Belonging Education Community
The Collective Light Project is an initiative of some members of the Manasota Anti-Racism Coalition that aims to bring together a collective of individuals and organizations in our community committed to challenging racism and building a more just, diverse, and equitable community.
In these unprecedented times, Floridians have experienced attacks on our public institutions and increasingly restrictive laws designed to limit educational freedom. Coordinated misinformation/ disinformation campaigns attempt to justify these new politically-motivated limitations. Hateful attacks on artist expression and censorship within our communities are a result. "Good Trouble" by Clifford McDonald (pictured above) was one of the images that State College of Florida required Embracing Our Differences to remove from its 2023 exhibition in order to display the exhibition on its campus. Embracing our Differences did not consent, and college administrators cancelled the exhibition.
Florida is not alone! We must organize together to resist!
